Description

Large and finely modelled terracotta figure in the Classic Veracruz style 6th to 10th Century AD, depicting a standing personage or deity with an impressive, multi-layered headdress, expressive facial features, earspools, and detailed body ornamentation. The piece shows excellent sculptural quality with applied and incised decoration, and retains a rich reddish-brown slip with attractive natural patina and encrustation.
